Today, I am writing to you with some very exciting news. Something that I’ve been looking forward to sharing with you for quite some time.
As you may have noticed the schedule has been a little tight lately. I’ve been wanting to bring on another acupuncturist for a while now, but waited until I found the exact right person!
I am pleased to announce that I have hired an amazing new acupuncture associate, Heather Smidt, LAc. She comes to us as a recent graduate of the New England School of Acupuncture and a seasoned Massage Therapist and Reiki Master.
I couldn’t be happier to welcome Heather to my practice. Some of you may have already met her, she’ll be in the office shadowing and training with me during the month of November. As of mid-December, she’ll be seeing her own patients and providing you all with some much needed flexibility in the schedule.
We are so lucky to have Heather joining us. She is a talented acupuncturist with nearly 10 years of massage experience including prenatal massage!
While training at NESA, Heather had the opportunity to study both Chinese and Japanese Style Acupuncture. The latter allows Heather to more easily work with needle sensitive patients and children. Heather completed a clinical rotation at Boston Medical Center in pediatrics working with infants and children. Her own personal fertility journey led her to want to specialize in women’s health. She enjoys combining aspects of both Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture styles to help patients work toward their health and wellness goals.
In addition, Heather is a licensed massage therapist and Reiki Master Teacher. She has been offering Reiki professionally in the Boston area since 2009 and graduated from the Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy in 2010. She has studied with 5 different Reiki masters including the late John Harvey Gray, William Lee Rand, Inamoto Hyukutan, Christine MacMahan, and Joanna Scaparrotti. Heather has also completed training in Ayurvedic Bodywork techniques at Kripalu, Thai Massage, Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian Massage) and Oncology Massage.
Prior to joining the health and wellness industry, Heather earned her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, GA. She has 8 years of classroom teaching experience and has even taught anatomy and physiology to massage students.
